I still have a headache. Partly from stress, partly from the weather (say thanks to dad for me). Everything is grey and quiet today.

Like looking through vellum.
We got more wood on New Year's Day, and it all got stacked in the nice weather.

I kept getting distracted by the patterns left by bugs.

Even with all that are tones of tan and grey, the slate outside the hidden part of the house was harboring a surprise.

I have continued to make the phone calls, a task which has turned out to be more work than I had anticipated. I think it's starting to work out though--one call resulted in us saving $800 a year. Can you believe it?
I can think of many things you could put in the buck shed. I think my top two picks would be to fill it with puppies, or get an alpaca. I know you can't knit with alpaca, but I sure can, and maybe it would be a good time for me to learn how to use my spinning wheel that's in your basement. And then you get the fuzzy camelid kisses, and I get the camelid fuzz. Sounds dreamy to me.

mmmm... kisses. Doe breath always smelled so sweet. Remember Sealie chewing her cud when we were lying in the pasture, and she was still young enough to want to lie across our laps? Watching a goat burp up cud balls was one of the most relaxing pastimes of goat husbandry. And listening to sheep chew on dry fall leaves while I was lying in the recliner chair was another. I was sick that fall, and was trying to get some sun on my sick chest. Being surrounded by masticating sheep was very comforting. Sounded like they were eating potato chips. They made leaves sound pretty tasty.
Don't know the extent of your phone calls, but one I made this fall to the cable company saved me $80/mo for 6 mo. Wouldn't have happened had I not called for something else, and while I was talking to the lady, a better deal was offered...but your savings of $800/yr is great!
I bought new pillows today, after watching Oprah yesterday---her show on bugs and viruses must have the pillow and mattress pad people selling their butts off. My reason was to prep the guest room for aunt karen. Throwing a few dust mites out in the process won't hurt either.
Loved your photographs. What IS that wonderful two-toned moss/lichen/slime?? Isn't it amazing that such color is there on such a gray day? It's been gray and drizzling here. Was hoping that you were already in the clear. Temps are 50-55, too. We could use days like this come March! We need a freeze so I can start pruning the fruit trees. At this rate they would leak sap all over the place.
Dreamed about the new redbud tree last night, that it was already in full bloom and I had missed that moment of budding that was the reason for buying the tree... I was happy the tree was blooming, but sooooo sad I had missed the photo shoot. I don't think YOU are missing any...
