Dear Mom,
Finally, a day without rain.

Love, Ruth
p.s. this shot is straight out of the camera, no tweaking. It really looked fake like this today.

Dear Mom,
Yesterday I ordered 1,000 worms to start vermicomposting. YAY! Then today I got an email saying it was an especially busy spring in the worming world (thanks a lot, martha stewart, for doing a segment on them) and they were running low on worms. Thanks to the run on worms, I have to wait up to two weeks for my beebos.

Dear Mom,
Yesterday's afternoon oozed over in to today. All day I felt like my insides were full of nettles. The stinging kind, not the tea kind. I'm going to bed in hopes that tomorrow will be better.
Love, Ruth
Dear Mom,
Last night the post fell into the category of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." It was one of those afternoons. But this morning I remembered something I could tell you. Rob taught me how to whistle by putting two fingers in your mouth. It's super cool. Now I can cat-call anybody I want.

Dear Mom,
Hopefully I can take some pictures tomorow. Spring has sprung here, even if there may still be time for snow. Trees are budding and a patch of daffodils are blooming. Doesn't quite compare to the pink-carpeted sidewalks under the cherry trees in Seattle, but it'll do, Pig.

I've now been able to dry the last two loads of laundry on the line under the veranda roof, and it's delightful. As I was remakng the beds after dinner, it started to smell like camping. In the good way, of course.

Love,
Ruth

Dear Mom,
Got two packages out today, and just trying to be as prepared as possible for tomorrow.

We were out in the yard today, and I turned my back for a moment, and Rob thought he would see how deep the fish pond was and fell through the 6 inches of slush that remained on the surface. I turned around, and there is a look of utter surprise on Rob's face. IT'S COLD! he yelled. AND DEEP! I have no idea why he was surprised. He knew it was a fish pond, and he could see the snow on top. That's what I've been trying to supervise the last couple days. Ron, of course, was working in the studio on his work.

Dear Mom,
Even the stalagmites 'round here are made of ice and snow.

Dear Mom,
Sorry I was watching my show when you called. Today was a day of major multi-tasking. I worked in the morning, and the dog had a vet appt at 2:30 for his bordatella vaccine. At 2:30 I was also expecting the guy to do the spring maintenence on the heating system, so I couldn't leave the house undone. Then he showed up at 1-ish, so it made getting out a little hectic. And of course the dog is all sorts of excited because there's a strange man in the house. The vet's waiting room is about the size of a bathroom, and I figured an appointment in the middle of the afternoon would equal a full waiting room, a situation that doesn't always bring out the best in Tucker. But he did well. I was able to get more syringes for Jack, so Ron won't run out, and then I went to pick up extra food for the furries too. The new girl who works at the feed store raises mini-lop rabbits, so I snuggled with one for a time while we talked. SO cute. And all black, so it would have fit in with the rest of the family just fine, but I resisted. When I got home I hand-hemmed the new dress I made so I can bring it with me, and made dinner, got a couple necklaces done in the studio to send out to Milwaukee tomorrow, and hunkered down to watch America's Next Top Model. Now I am going to finish folding laundry and stuff like that. I will see you tomorrow!

Ruth
