Dear Mom,
I finished the endpaper mitts a week or so ago, and thought you'd like to see them. Pardon the one-hand-only shots, the other hand had the camera. I realized I read the chart wrong--on the second chart you're supposed to read each row once from right to left, then back from left to right. Whoops. I have plenty of yarn to make more, so I think I'll try again, this time with the suggested cast-on, and proper chart reading.

I had thought they were going to be too tight, but they're perfect.

Dear Ruth,

Can't you knit 2 more of them, one to match each you have? I think the irregular one looks interesting on its own; you remember how you did it so you could repeat, don't you?

I haven't knit much since the cellar clean out began... just too tired at night. I think your productivity is inspiring.

You should have been with me today--- Donna the dental hygienist is now knitting at every possible chance, and she sounded just like you--" I simply have to knit to stay sane. Favorite time of day--- evening before the fire, books on tape on earphones, and my knitting."

We had a lovely chat ( albeit one sided, of course) but unfortunately I have a loose filling so will be going back on Monday to see Dr Cano. They added onto the back of the building yet again, so he is at the far end of a very looooong hallway now!

Your mitts look warm, and the pattern looks difficult. Kudos to you!

Dear Mom,
The two mitts match each other, they just don't match Eunny Jang's mastery of colorwork and knitting skills. I don't know how different they'll look when I do them correctly. We'll see!

Dear Ruth,

Some of the nicest patterns were discovered exactly that way. Consistency is the key--- if you do it wrong all over, who's to know? Karen and Clint played cribbage like that for years.

I like your pattern. And I must admit, I couldn't see any design flaws in it as it looked like the other one to me, but I thought maybe there was something happening where the image got out of focus.

They look downright masterly, both of them.

I am not going to buy bread anymore that has cracked wheat. They should name it Possibly Cracked Teeth. Ditto on multi-grain bread with stones in it. I don't know what was going on last week, but I hit 3 hard things in 3 days. A rogue loaf.

I once saw a picture of wheat being piled up at the end of a street in the mid-west ( drought, no chance of rain) as their silos were full, and I wondered exactly where that mountain of wheat ended up, and who would be unlucky enough to get the wheat on the bottom, mixed with road debris?

Ya just never know!
