I do not know who those women are in yesterday's photo. I found a stack of old snapshots at the nearby antique/junk shop, and I thought that one was interesting, but put it back. Then I kept thinking about it, so I got it again, and the guy that owns the place gave it to me for free.
Sunday mornings start out kind of slow, with watching Sunday Morning and lazing about. I was debating whether or not to go grocery shopping (still kinda stir crazy) but found the right ingredients in the pantry for black bean soup, so I started that up in the crock-pot this morning. This afternoon, Animal Planet was showing Puppy Bowl III. Yes, exactly. Three hours of puppies in a room that looked like a football stadium going crazy. And half-time? Kittens. Now can you see why it was hard to go outside? So I did some planning on how to resolve stuff in the studio, and generally procrastinated on getting out in the cold. I paced it out--it is 150 feet to the studio door. Right now it's only One Degree outside. It's freakin cold here. Anyway, got bundled up, went out to the studio and ended up not only coming to a resolution for the Vine necklace, but came up with something cool that will be in the next wave of designs. Not too bad, even though it was a little frustrating getting to that point.

Dear Ruth,
Some days are flat, like the way the warm water is in the little bowl when you put the yeast in to proof it for breadmaking. The yeast turns the water a light muddy color, and sits there. Oh dear, you think, is it dead?
You walk away, do other things for 10 minutes, and come back to a frothing ooblah oozing over the edge. It's alive! Hoorah! Life in unexpected places! We can continue!
Studio life is often like that. Glad your ooblah has returned.
K sends love. It is cold here too, and dad has already given the " it's too cold to go outside" lecture, as he left to go to his stuio. However, we are going to take the eggs to market and go on a toot anyway. If I leave K in the house too long, she thinks up other grand schemes to fix stuff, and we are already well over our heads trying to find a new drawer unit to go by my chair. But it gives us a reason to hunt down some furniture stores. We once did a similar hunt in the Hague, looking for a Dutch doll that K was convinced she had to have ( she was 12 at the time and thought it would be her last chance to have a doll). We wandered the stores near the hotel together. We settled for 2 dolls that were not the ones we really wanted because we only had a couple of dollars to spend. I will remind K of this today, that we have a long history in having to compromise. We might even leave the sewing chest right where it is, even tho it is too small to be holding such a large lamp.
Had a lovely day with N and gang yesterday. You were with us in spirit.
Love, xoxoxo mom
