I was slightly clever in my response to today's blog, but it didn't go through. I don't know what I did wrong, but it didn't come up and is lost.
Rather than repeating myself, I will just say:
Golly, your snow shots look cold. Deep enough to bury the Holstein, eh?
Stay warm by the fire, and snuggle Ron and the furries. Make soup.
We've had a lot of sleet today. The cats have stayed in the barn all day, as did the chickens. The several inches of snow we've had has that fake look, granular and sparkly. When you kick it off the stoop it is just like sugar.
I did make chicken soup today, but dad could see through the glass lid on the big pot and decided to make himself some eggs for dinner instead. Something about that bony leg sticking up out of the simmering stock did him in. I didn't even have a chance to tone things down visually by adding some carrots and celery. Ah well. I've put the pot out on the porch for the night and will try again tomorrow--- deboning will be the first step.
