Dear mom,
My knitpicks needles came today! (Thanks!) I switched my sweater over to them, and it seems to be going well. When I was knitting you your Blue Egg, I was dying using the needles I had, so I went to The Weaving Works to buy sharper ones, and the lady there told me you're not supposed to change needles midway through a project. Well, you're not supposed to take apart sweaters from the GAP to turn into shawls for your mom, either, but I'm just crazy like that. I keep thinking of her telling me that as I switch needles every day on this new sweater.

I heard back from another store, so YAY this has been a productive week on the jewelry venue front. If I could just finish with other responsibilities so I can get back in the studio...

Love,
Ruth

Dear Ruth,

Send me name/ website of new shop! That's wonderful!!

I have been reading all those old letters I wrote to K, so haven't even started taxes. I knew they would be like potato chips once I began reading them. And why not? My children did such precious things, said such priceless things, and the letters are bringing all of that back. This is better than waking from a coma!

On the knitpick needles--- I had decided to do my own market research on needle kits, and couldn't rest until I had the knit picks too, since you had spoken so highly of them. Ultimately, I concluded that a knitter needs both sets. Plastic for slicker yarns, metal for slower yarns. And the knit picks' goes down one more size smaller. However, I wish they had as good a case as the Denise, as I find the zipper deal cumbersome. I bought you the set of markers, too, which the Denise didn't have, so you can use them with both sets when you want to take the needle tips off to use elsewhere. If you find you don't like the Denise as well as the KnitPicks and never use them, you can always send them back to me~! I am knitting my cable sweater on them right now, but may change over to the slicker ones... the pointy ends might help. I'll see.

There is a very slight gauge difference when switching over needles, I guess, but in a lot of cases it wouldn't really show. There is also a gauge difference when you knit while angry and uptight, or with damp hands. So don't worry about it.

Hope the new needles will make things fun again, and fast! Knit on !!

Love, mom
