The other day I finished one of the sweaters I started from the book Noemi sent me a couple weeks ago. It was Lamb's Pride from my stash, so it's a little scratchy, but I can make a softer one for when the weather warms up. A shrug seems like a stupid thing to knit, but it's actually nice to have something warm across your shoulders and back of your neck. Protects you from those pesky drafts.

Dear ruth,
That looks yummy!!! Great fit, too.
What I want to know is, did you take that picture with your toe? If so, then all your digits are sooooo talented.
Funny thing is, I am knitting a soft boucle/bumpy sweater for Zophia right now, and in the picture it looks like a shrug for a baby, and I could just see Z wearing it with one of her pretty dresses, but it looks like it's coming out huge ( the fact that I am making it a 5/6 may have some bearing, but the next size down was a 3/4 and I thought she would grow out of that too quickly) so it may end up having an entirely different look than envisioned. but it does have the ribbing like yours, with a curved front.
Anyhoo. I love yours, and hope its scratchiness will be fine when worn over something else. And it is amazing how warm it can keep you to have your neck and shoulders warm. It is the Blue Egg's main duty.
And have I told you lately how much I love the long sage/blue/green scarf? I couldn't do chores without it. And you may feel that knitting me a great scarf, with all those boring knit/purl shifts, was a waste if I wore it only for chores, but I must remind you that I dress up so seldom it would not have gotten used if I saved it for dress up. So, daily usage, its scratchiness a comfort, perfectly happy doing chores--- that's one scarf that worked out great. I am one lucky woman.*
*from the Gieko ad with the announcer talking in the background. I've forgotten which one exactly, maybe the woman whose husband wrecked their car on their anniversary? And, I've forgotten the name of the actor that has the deep smooth voice that does the talking, too. At this rate, my career as a reviewer is over!
Dear Ruth again,
Arrrrghghghg. I just had to frog about 4 rows of the back, huge number of stitches, of the cable sweater. I simply can't undo cable mistakes mid-row, and rip down about 4 rows, and make it look right. I had a cable that went over when it should have gone under. What a pisser. It looked all right when I was doing it!
You are the only one I know who would sympathize with the frigging frogging..
Time for bed now. I had backward progress today on that sweater! So much for my decision to knit at least 6 rows a day ( otherwise I will never finish it, and most of all, I will forget how the pattern goes. Knitting should not be this mentally painful.
Unfortunately, the sweater is beautiful, so quitting isn't an option.
Love, mom
