Yesterday the goldfish were enjoying the warm weather.

The got kibble for the first time in 4 or 5 months, but they were swimming slooooow.
My package came today. The weird thing was as soon as I pulled it out of the mailbox I knew what it was. Thank you! It is going to be challenging to finish the couple SUPER BULKY SUPER WARM projects that are in progress. I guess that's how it goes. Last week I finished the sweater I started while hanging out with Ron as he installed his show at Catherine's in January 2006.
Love,
Ruth

Dear Ruth,
Glad the package came. It was the Lace Style, right? I've sent another one your way since, so I guess that has to be the one arriving first. Amazing how much is forgotten in a week's time... first thought: package? what package?
Who says all projects' time lines have to be start, knit, finish? When the hot weather comes, switch to lace. I had to quit on the entrelac once warm weather came, as I couldn't stand to have the weight of that wool in my lap. Of course, it is best to leave yourself really good notes if you quit. I had a heck of a time beginning that entrelac again, 8 months later.
There's got to be something magical about fish circulation that they can survive the winter up there in their little frozen pond. I think they share the magic with frogs.
Finished pruning the old apple tree by the door yesterday---wahoo--- now there are only 9 more to do. I used the pole pruner, didn't even bother with the ladder, which sped things up, and eliminated the sloping ground and stone wall interference. I only stumbled over the litter of cut branches a few times, walking around with my head straight up. Can't do pick up at same time. Next job. It's either head straight back, or head straight down. Head is pretty particular about its direction, especially when it spends hours in that position.
I slept in this morning but didn't realize it. I woke up and said, oh, nice--- if it is only 7-ish I'll read a bit, but when I looked at the clock it was after 9! How fortunate to start the day off with a surprise like that, and not screw up the milkers.
Love,
mom
