Dear Mom,
We decided to institute a new Health Regime here at the homestead. Ron biked and I ran on the treadmill, and then later on in the day we walked in the woods with the dog, which was probably the hardest part. Ron's not going to drink any more beer until the 4th of July, and we're going to eat healthier. Ron even wants us to start having fish more often.

Maybe there are sun flares.
We'll see how long we can keep this up.
Love,
Ruth

Dear Ruth,

I think you're right about the sun flares. How else could dad and I have worked together on the blueberry patch pulling weeds? But most incredibly, after a little extra solo work on the poison ivy pull-out and rototilling, dad said later in the day that he had gone down there to look at the progress and thought I had done a great job, that the whole bed looked great! Unsolicited praise!

And he was so touched by my father's day card ( yes, the same recycled one I've been giving him every year for the last 15, only with a new envelope I had to make for it last year ) that he hugged me twice. I'm telling you, when you find a card that says it all, keep using it. This card may meet my shopping credo for lasting at least 30 years. Fortunately dad's memory of it doesn't last more than a few days, so it is brand new every year. A perfect fit for card, buyer and receiver.

If sun flares can spark love, humor, good health habits and exercise, I'd say: Bring 'em ON!

Glad to have you back on-blog.

Love, mom
