I did a lots of mental " hell-oooooos" over the last few weeks to you, too. You were in vacation mode, I was in technology hell.
Much better to be back on track.
Hope your couch survived the trip. Covering it with new material is enough work, without having to put it back together because it flew off the truck and rolled down the only chasm between CT and NY. Rope, bungees, plastic and duct tape are good helpers in the tragedy avoidance scenario.
Mowed after you left. Place looks juicy. The bees are everywhere, loaded yellow. Smell of cut grass, low humidity, clear and sunny. Sure wish you had been able to stay. Gracie sends slobber, and she's sorry you missed it fresh. She's quite attached to her slobber--- it hangs in long drools that are the liquid equivalent of velcro, tenuous yet tenacious. Actually, they only drop off on a shirt you have actually taken the time to iron. Over the years The Slobber Organization ( it has a strong union among cats and dogs) has developed a long list of rules; Gracie goes along with all of them, and the clean/ironed shirt is rule number one. She is a compliant cat.
This aft I will trim the garlic crop. It's been drying in the garage. I meant to give you some of this year's crop. The truck will be happy to go back in its spot, and dad will be happy to have it there.
Dear Mom, Now that's not exactly fair--it sounds like I was blowing you off. I wasn't in vacation mode, I was working, and a couple times you called right smack in the middle of me trying to cook dinner. But both Ron and I tried as much as we possibly could to help you figure out the technology.
The couch and chair seem to have made it fine, but now we have a crap load of furniture in the living room. This weekend it's supposed to be dry again, and we're going to rent a cleaner and clean all the furniture and the rugs, and then I'll start figuring out the slipcovers.
By the time we went grocery shopping in Danbury, we were stuffed to the gills in the truck, front and back, but we didn't lose anything, although it was a little nervewracking. And uncomfortable.
Dear Ruth, I was just joshing you... I knew you weren't blowing me off. And I should have said " traveling mode " rather than vacation. I know you were working then. And thank you for all you did to help dad's CD. Just what you needed, more stuff that needed your attention. Somedays one can get buried in those kinds of needs.
