It's been a busy week. I have been working hard in the studio against a deadline, and we had a house guest for three and a half days. Our friend was a visiting artist, so there was a presentation of his work and hitting the town until the wee-hours. There were was a senior show and an end-of-semester party.
I am happy to report that at least a couple things have started to grow in the garden!
Beets:

and radishes:

I am going to add a little decorative fencing to keep Tucker out of the beds. He's not digging, just tromping through and leaving big paw dents where I've planted. I still have a few more plants from the garden store to plant, and hopefully some of the starter pots I planted will sprout soon.
Love,
Ruth

Dear Ruth,
Your seedlings look very healthy.
I finally got the peas planted, and some lettuce and such on Sat, so nothing is up yet. It's been so hot I've had to water. Every time I work in the veggie garden, Gracie comes and lies down in the garlic bed, like an Egyptian cat viewing the desert. I appreciate her company. Unlike Lady Gray, Gracie keeps her comments to herself, so I interpret all her viewing as approval.
We drove all over northwestern CT yesterday, picking up Sally and Warren and going to her show in Canton, eating lunch there in an old ax manufacturing building. It was a good day. The AC worked in the car, so we were 4 old people feeling comfortable in the heat.
Hope you have a chance to call me before tomorrow. Your week has sounded busy enough to have been 10 days long instead of 2.
Love, mom xoxoxo
