As I was working on oxiding this batch of new earrings, Ron was making pizzas, and I was watching the tv over the countertop. Ron was wearing his sneaking shoes, apparently, because he snuck up on me like a freaking ninja and when he went to kiss my ear he scared the living daylights out of me. I yelled super super loud, and then realized that he had actually scared the breath out of me and it took me like a minute to be able to breathe again. My eyes started to run, and my nose started to run, and my face started to tingle. It was the weirdest thing I've ever experienced. Good thing I didn't need to go to the bathroom. Poor Ron felt terrible, because he truly didn't mean to sneak up on me from the shadows. He was only trying to be nice, and when I could get the words out, I was crying "YOU ALMOST KILLED ME!"
Good God, if it isn't the birthdays sneaking up to age you, it's the husband.

Love,
Ruth

Dear Ruth,
Wow, what a reaction. Your adrenaline is powerful. I hope you didn't pop out your contacts.
Dad and I spend most of each day yelling at each other---as in " I'm going to my studio now!" and " I'm going to be in the cellar!" " I'm back in from chores!" Too many times we've startled each other, and that never feels good, so we now do the holler technique. It makes for a noisy day, but at least we know where each other is most of the time. Riskiest time is when someone is vacuuming.
You didn't splash yourself with the oxidation fluid, did you?
Poor Ron, trying to do the lovey thing. Hope another opportunity arises soon, and you see it coming. He deserves some smooches. Wouldn't this fit into the category of ' it's the thought that counts'?
Love,
mom
Dear Ruth,
I meant to ask you about the earrings in the picture. Eager to see them in finished state, as it is hard to tell how they will hang here. Do you oxide first, then cut apart the circles, or do the rings stay attached the way they are? Intriguing, either way.
Love,
mom
