Thank you for having me today, 32 years ago. Today was a fine day, nothing too dreadful to do, nothing too mind-blowing. Spent a little time with friends and loved ones, and talked to people on the phone. Ate out again (I know! Two nights in a row!), this time at Cafe Za in Alfred. I opened my presents this morning; thank you for the yarn tote and the money that went in to the New Digital Camera envelope. I am now deciding whether I was a super-portable, sub-compact camera to have on me all the time, or if I want to keep saving for an archival digital printer. Anyway, thanks. Our Christmas presents from Jennifer and Mike showed up today, so we got to open a lot of small presents from them, and that was nice. Once the wind and snow stopped blowing, Ron and I went out to the studio to see what he made for me, which was another worktable, this one designed for my anvils and rolling mill. It's actually too high for the anvils, but it'll be fine for now, and eventually I'll get something shorter and more ergonomic. It's a nice table, square and sturdy. Well, I am going to go back in the other room and finish watching the movie we started this afternoon.
This way forward, into a new year, better than ever before.

All my love to you and Dad,
Ruth

Dear Ruth,
I'm glad you had a good birthday, calm and cozy, plus presents to make you feel extra special. Ron is doing good stuff for you--- a bookcase for the yarn, plus a table for the anvil/rolling mill. You are very lucky, even if you are too short. ( ;>) ~~)
Vilma and gang just left. She and I spent a lot of time talking knitting terms, yarns, patterns, and I showed her how to do the kitchner stitch in the sock she is knitting for Nizhoni. She is teaching herself the Continental method, so knits into the back of a knit stitch... doing Kitchner was therefore a real trick! But we had fun, and she is looking forward to knitting the Clapotis. We wished you had been there with us. It would have been a lively stitch n' bitch ( only bitching about twisted stitches, as Greg was in the room). Oh yeah, she also had on a great scarf she made with dangling ribbons knitted in, which had a variety of yarns in it because she had run out of the yarn she started with ( it was a success nonetheless), and fingerless mitts she made out of her grandmother's Aunt Lydia's rug yarn. Noah was wearing a multi-colored sweater Vilma just finished. He says he wants a collar on it. It has a boat neck. Nizhoni was wearing her red felt hat and looked beautiful ( as her name in Navajo means) as always.
Soup pie went down good. Wish you and Ron had been here too. Everyone sent love your way.
I like your arrow. It looks like a turkey track.
And you bet! It's going to be a great year...Having my own special blog is a huge step in the direction of Good Things.
Love, mom
